Anjos is the Lisbon residence and creative home of Garcé Dimofski, located in the Anjos neighbourhood — one of the city's oldest and most characterful districts. The project presented a rare opportunity: a 19th-century Pombaline apartment, rich with ornate ceilings, intricate plasterwork, and decorative moldings that told the story of Lisbon's architectural heritage.

Rather than erasing these historical elements, Garcé Dimofski embraced them as the foundation of the design. The renovation was guided by a single principle — preserve, restore, and layer. Original details were meticulously repaired and brought into dialogue with contemporary furniture, sculptural ceramics, and works by artists from Portugal and beyond. The result is a home that feels simultaneously rooted in the 19th century and entirely of the present.

Woodwork plays a central role throughout the apartment. Local Portuguese timber species — chestnut, pine — are worked into bespoke seating, wall panels, and structural elements, celebrating the material intelligence of regional craftsmanship. In the ceramics, Garcé Dimofski collaborated closely with Lisbon-based Portuguese potter Lígia Guedes, pushing the material beyond conventional boundaries into sculptural, architectural territory: a cairn-like bathroom sink, bespoke tile work, and hand-formed objects that blur the line between design and art.

The apartment also served as a stage for international collaboration grounded in local materials. New York-based Korean artist Minjae Kim used local Portuguese pine for a series of dining chairs. British designer Charlotte Taylor crafted a daybed from the same timber. Parisian designer Garance Vallée worked alongside Lígia Guedes to produce a distinctive ceramic bedside lamp — a piece that captures the spirit of the project: international vision, Portuguese hand.

Throughout, the interior weaves together contemporary artworks, carefully selected vintage pieces, and Garcé Dimofski's own sculptural furniture designs — creating a home that functions as both a private residence and a living exhibition of what the studio believes design can be.

Residential interior design — Anjos, Lisbon, Portugal. Architecture, furniture, and curation by Garcé Dimofski. Ceramic collaboration with Lígia Guedes. Furniture editions by Minjae Kim, Charlotte Taylor, and Garance Vallée.
