The Cedofeita Townhouse is a residential interior design project by Garcé Dimofski, located in the heart of Porto's Cedofeita district — one of the city's most characterful and culturally rich neighbourhoods. The building dates to 1893, a Portuguese villa of quiet grandeur, and it arrived carrying the full weight of its history: ornate ceilings, decorative moldings, and an architectural soul shaped by more than a century of Portuense life.

The client's brief was clear — transform the space to reflect a deep passion for contemporary art and design, without erasing what time had built. Garcé Dimofski responded with their signature approach: precise, respectful, and material-driven. Heritage and contemporaneity are not placed in opposition here. They are made to speak the same language.

Throughout the townhouse, a network of local artisans was engaged — ceramicists, carpenters, and metalworkers, each bringing their craft to bear on specific elements of the interior. All woodwork was produced in Portugal using sustainably sourced timber, grounding the project in the material intelligence and slow-making culture that defines Garcé Dimofski's practice. The result is an interior that feels genuinely Portuguese — not as an aesthetic reference, but as a lived reality.

In the primary bedroom, the original decorative ceiling has been meticulously restored, its carved wood moldings reclaimed and celebrated rather than concealed. A bespoke bed takes centre stage, designed by Garcé Dimofski and made by hand in Porto. It is complemented by a Folke Bensow bench and a custom nightstand — a careful choreography of objects that balances the room without crowding it.

The living room brings classical architecture into dialogue with contemporary design. An armchair by Studio Haos anchors the space with sculptural presence, while every other element is chosen with the same restraint: nothing decorative for its own sake, everything considered in relation to the whole. There is an elegance in this simplicity — an understated grandeur in the way the architects have preserved the soul of the building while embracing the fluidity of contemporary life.

The Porto Townhouse Cedofeita is, above all, a home — one that holds its history lightly and its present with confidence.
